Friday was a record breaker when it came to the heat. Newark Liberty peaked at 100 degrees, breaking the old record of 99 degrees set in 2016. The other element to the forecast today was the intense, sauna-like moisture in the air. This created temperatures that felt like 105 to 118 degrees. Extremely uncomfortable air that aided in the severe weather development.

Saturday is beautiful. Sun and clouds. Comfortably warm with highs in the upper 80s. It’s still on the muggy side, just not as punishing or disrespectful as today was.

Sunday features clouds and storms.

Next week, another round of heat is expected as temperatures stay in the low to mid-90s for our sixth possible heat wave this summer.
