Traffic was slightly impacted on Route 27 in Edison on Tuesday following some downed wires and a sinkhole.
The state Department of Transportation thought they were responding to downed wires near Plainfield Avenue and Lincoln Highway, but then discovered a sinkhole near the middle of the intersection.
DOT officials said that although the sinkhole was small, it could have caused some problems if any heavier vehicles drove over it. Crews were on the scene drilling to repair the issue.
Verizon crews were also called to the scene to replace the fallen wire.
